Where did this week go?

I can't believe it's been a week since I last posted a blog. I hate that. Maybe it is because the girls last day of school was on Tuesday, so I didn't have a ton of free time to get things done like I usually do. I was so sad to see the school year end. It went by so fast and I loved their teachers. They were great. Brooklyn and Sydney Kate's teachers gave them a book of pictures and drawings from the first day they started school to the last. It was so sweet. I started to tear up when I saw Sydney's. She was just a baby back in Sept. when she started. She was only 18 months. She had hardly any hair and was so shy and innocent. Now she has the cutest little ringlet curls in her long brown hair and is a force to be reckond with. In Brooklyn's book, her teacher took down her height and weight on the first day and then the last day. I can't believe how much she's grown. In Sept 2008 she weighed 27 lbs and was 37 inches tall. On the last day of school, May 2009, she weighed 36 lbs and was 41 inches tall. She gained 9 lbs and 4 inches in 8 months. Crazy! I look at her now and she is growing into such a beautiful little girl. I am so proud of her. The other night we were laying in bed and I had had bad allergies that day and my eyes were all red and swollen and I said, "My eyes hurt so bad". She said, "Mommy I will pray for your eyes". "Dear Jesus, please help mommy's eyes to get all better, Lord Jesus, Amen". What a beautiful prayer. I am so proud of her. She loves to pray. I love that about her. She still remembers praying to Jesus to help her find something that is lost and she will say, "Mommy remember when Jesus helped us find that puzzle piece?" If I can instill one thing into my girls is that they know and want to pray to the Lord. It warms my heart to hear them pray.

I am also proud of Brooklyn that she has overcome her habit of biting her nails. Who knew a 3 year old could have such a habit, but she did and it was a bad one. She had been biting her nails for the last 9 months or so. She always had them in her mouth and they were bitten down so far that half of the nail was gone. I was starting to get concerned when one day she said, "Mommy I'm not going to bite my nails anymore." That was that. She stopped biting her nails and she was so excited when she could see the white part of her nails growing in. Nana painted them a pretty pink and that made her day. I realized something about her. When she makes her mind up to do something she does it. She didn't want to cut her hair for the longest time. She loved having really long hair. One day earlier this year she said, "Mommy I want to cut my hair". I wasn't quite sure she meant it so I waited a few days and she kept insisting she get her hair cut, so I made an appointment. I had never cut her hair ever, so I kept thinking she is going to change her mind, but she didn't. We got it cut and she loved it. Just this week she said she wanted to get it cut really short, but I told her she had to wait until we got back from California. We'll be taking family pictures on the beach and I wanted her hair to be long. I can't wait to cut it short for summer though. I think it will be really cute short. I'll post pictures when we do. Another milestone this week is that she started sleeping in her own bed and through the night. I know what you are thinking? Yes she is 3 1/2 and she should be sleeping through the night, but she's not or at least hasn't been up until this week. Sydney doesn't either and so yeah Brian and I haven't had a good night sleep in about 3 1/2 years, unless we're on vacation, just the 2 of us. They still take 2 hour naps during the day at the same time, so at least that is going well. I'm blessed they still both nap together.

Now onto Sydney Kate. She is my little ball of fire. She is a talker. That girl will talk and talk and talk. She says the cutest things. Tonight when I was putting her to bed she said, "No t.v. on Monday mommy". What? Does she know tomorrow is Monday? She actually reminded me that tomorrow is "no TV Monday". Yesterday, she was eating something in the car (can't remember what it was) and she said, "Mmm, good stuff". Cracked me up. She is just so much fun to be around, when she's not throwing a tantrum. And throw them she does. The child is strong. I have to literally push her down in the car seat with all of my force just to get her buckled in when she doesn't want to get in. I will be glad when that phase is over. The other day she was running and my sister Stacy said, "Wow Syd is solid". "She is so big." Then we were at Chick-fil-a at the play area and Sydney was running around and there was a woman there with a little girl who looked to be about 2 but much smaller than Syd. She asked my how old she was. I told her 2 and she said, "Wow she has huge calves". Not sure how to take that, but I just smiled and said yes she does. She is her daddy's girl. If she is not an athlete I will be shocked. I think those calves will come in handy playing soccer, don't you?

This entry is getting long so I think I will call it a night. It's hard to remember things that have happened during the week when I wait so long to write. I hope to do a better job this week. We will see. Stay tuned.

P.S. I want to thank my girls and my wonderful hubby for getting me an iPhone for Mother's Day. I love it and I love the fact that I have a camera with me at all times. These photos I posted are from my iPhone. Pretty good don't ya think?

I loved this picture of Sydney Kate. I turned around and she had fallen asleep so I grabbed the iPhone and took a picture. Too cute.

Brooklyn had a swim party at a friends house and the girls had so much fun. Brooklyn is my little fish. She did not want to get out of the water.

Sydney on the other hand had more fun playing outside of the pool.
